Coffee shops that accept Bitcoin
Cafés, coffee shops and tea rooms where you can pay for your coffee with Bitcoin or Lightning.
About this guide
“Can I buy a coffee with Bitcoin?” has been the classic test for Bitcoin as money for years — and today the answer is yes, in hundreds of cities. This guide lists every café, coffee shop and tea room on Coinmap that accepts Bitcoin.
Coffee shops are also a good place to meet the local Bitcoin community: many host meetups or were the first Bitcoin merchants in their town. Open a city below for the full list with addresses and opening hours.
Coinmap currently lists 1,674 coffee shops in 78 countries. 92% of them accept Lightning payments and 1,116 were confirmed by a visitor in the last 12 months. The countries with the most are United States (806), South Africa (134), Thailand (107), El Salvador (100) and Brazil (40), and the cities with the most are Los Angeles (41), San Francisco (28), Austin (11), Funchal (10) and Boston (9).
Coffee shops by city
Each city has its own page with the full list, addresses and a map. Cities with at least 5 coffee shops are shown.
How to pay
A coffee costs a few dollars, so Lightning is the natural way to pay: the barista shows a QR code, you scan it, and the payment arrives instantly with practically no fee. Some cafés accept tap-to-pay Lightning cards (NFC) as well.
If a café only lists on-chain Bitcoin, expect to wait for a confirmation or for the staff to accept the payment once it is broadcast.
